When shoe designer, Paige Bingham is jilted she decides to enjoy her honeymoon-for-one in Sorrento. What she doesn’t expect is to meet a mysterious entrepreneur, Sebastian Fielding, when she gets to Italy. The sting of her rejection slowly eases as he introduces her to the enchanting ancient sites he knows and loves.
Unfortunately, soon after Paige returns to her home on the island of Jersey, she discovers that not only is Sebastian’s company taking over the struggling store where her business is based, but that her concession is probably surplus to his requirements.
How can Paige stop her fledgling business from going under? And what can she do to quell the gossip now that the paparazzi have published their untruths about ‘A Jersey Affair’?

Having not read any previous works by this author, I was completely unprepared for the wonderfully warm, romantic adventure this book would take me on.
The novel opens in Sorrento where Paige has fled to on what should have been her honeymoon but is now a way for her to escape her life after her fiancé, Jeremy left her at the altar. Paige finds the beautiful surroundings, beautiful and enable her to work out what she wants to do with her life and this is further helped by meeting a handsome man called Sebastian Fielding with whom she spends some special and romantic moments with. Paige thinks this may just be a holiday affair but when she returns home and discovers the store where her shoe shop is based is facing a corporate takeover, she is abruptly bought back face to face with Sebastian who is in charge of the takeover.
This is a wonderful book filled with romance, friendship and beautiful scenery. I definitely want to visit Jersey now after reading about the beautiful places in this book. The reader is swept along with Paige on a rollercoaster of emotions she faces after being jilted and facing the prospect of having to find new premises for her beloved shoe shop.
The other relationships Paige has with her sister Clem and her best friend Olly are beautifully drawn too and it was quite refreshing to read about a friendship between a man and a woman without any sexual overtones in it. I also loved the homage the author paid to Jane Austen where the heroine is taught to not rely on first impressions and being persuaded by someone to give up any chance she may have of a relationship with Sebastian. I also enjoyed the fact that the reader saw some scenes from Sebastian’s point of view too.
This lovely romance is a perfect read for a long summer’s day as it is sweet, fresh and guaranteed to sweep you off your feet.
