Welcome to the Checking Inn Blog Tour!

After storming up the Amazon charts with the brilliantly funny White Lies, Emily Harper has now released her second rom-com novel Checking Inn. Find out all the details, read reviews, guest posts and enter the tour giveaway as the book visits a selection of fantastic blogs . . .

What they say:

‘Kate Foster runs the Summerside Inn (and her life) by well-organized checklists.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000032_00025]Make sure the caterers don’t serve devil’s food cake to the Christian Women’s Alliance– check.

Tell my mother that having a séance to get rid of any unwanted spirits in the kitchen during dinnertime is not okay- check.

Send a friendly reminder to all staff that the pens are colour coded for everyone’s enjoyment, and therefore it is not a good idea to put them all in one jar in order to “spice things up” as was anonymously suggested– check.

But, when an acclaimed hotel critic dies at the Inn, just before she’s about to publish a scathing review that would ruin the business, Kate’s life and checklists are thrown into disarray. And it doesn’t help matters that the detective assigned to the case is messy, unorganized, and too charming for his own good. Now Kate has to prove her innocence and save her Inn, or else the only thing that she’ll be organizing is the prison’s next bake sale.’

The 2nd guest post of the tour featuring Checking Inn’s ‘relaxed’ protagonist Kate:

Relaxing is great, I have no idea why I didn’t do it ages ago. I try to drink my eight glasses of water before I leave the house in the morning so I can start the day off toxin–free. This morning I went for a yoga class at the Summerside Retirement Home and Mrs. Phelps even asked me to be her assistant! Apparently there were a few notes left in the new suggestion box that I installed at the front of the classroom that said I am so good at showing everyone ways to improve their less-than-perfect technique, that I might as well run the class. I was truly touched.

I went out for lunch with my mom today and had a huge slice of chocolate cake before my hamburger. The only problem is since I usually don’t have room after my main meal for dessert, lately I have just been eating cake for lunch. Sadly, the cake mixed with all the water sloshing around in my body has proved to be a deadly combination. My body is just going to take a little time to adjust. It obviously doesn’t know that we are in relaxation mode yet.

Afterwards Mom and I went back to the Inn to get set up for our afternoon activities. Mom had arranged a nice afternoon of lawn bowling. Everything was going fine until people actually started to play and we realised that the grass hadn’t been cut in a week. Which is entirely Becky’s fault. Becky is the teenage daughter of my mom’s neighbour and our new housekeeper in training. The Inn’s policy is very clear that the staff are not allowed to date each other, but Becky really wanted to date the boy that cuts the Inn’s lawn and told me “I was trying to stop her from experiencing great love”. I was tired of hearing her complain last week so I decided to lift that one rule as my spontaneous act of the day. Well, they got into a huge fight about five seconds after they started dating and now he is on strike until she agrees not to stalk him.

Anyways, we decided to change the afternoon activity to charades. Very spontaneous of me, I know.
