Having not long finished reading Cupcakes at Carrington’s (another book hidden away on my Kindle!), I can’t wait to get back into life at Carrington’s department store!

A deliciously indulgent read and the follow up to Cupcakes at Carrington’s. Set in Carrington’s Department Store this is perfect for fans of Jenny Colgan.

Georgie Hart loves Christmas time at Carrington’s Department store. Running the luxury handbag department, Georgie adores helping customers in the hunt for the perfect gift for the perfect someone. And this year is no exception – now she has the hunky Tom, Mr Carrington himself, to spend the special day with.

But when Tom springs a surprise, Georgie’s plans are thrown into chaos. Carrington’s is getting a fresh lease of life in a hot new reality TV show, featuring formidable retail guru, Kelly Cooper.

As the first show airs, Georgie is shown in a far from flattering light. Worse is to come when Kelly’s vile daughter appears to get her claws into Tom. Georgie fears this will be the worst Christmas ever, but Santa still has a little surprise for her stocking this year – she’ll just have to wait until Christmas to find out…

Iona Sheehan has just taken the biggest gamble of her life. Leaving her job, her home and her family in Baltimore, she has come to Ireland in search of adventure – and answers.

Iona has always felt a powerful connection to the home of her ancestors. So when her beloved grandmother confesses an extraordinary family secret, she can’t resist visiting County Mayo to discover the truth for herself. Arriving at the beautiful and atmospheric Castle Ashford, Iona is excited to meet her cousins, Connor and Branna O’Dwyer, for the first time. And when she lands a job at the local riding school she finds herself drawn against her will to its owner – the hot-tempered but charismatic Boyle McGrath. Perhaps in County Mayo she has found her true home at last.

What Iona doesn’t realise is that her cousins have been expecting her for a long time. Connor, Branna and Iona have all inherited a powerful but dangerous gift from an ancestor known as the Dark Witch. And they are about to discover that some old legends can return to haunt the present . . .

The first in a magical new trilogy, Dark Witch is a captivating story of love, family and destiny.

  1. OOoooh are we getting into the festive season? YAY! I love a cracking Christmas read, but then you probably gathered that anyway. I love Christmas full stop!!

Here’s one of my favourite Christmas reads: The Christmas Mystery by Jostein Gaarder. It’s like a story within a story, written in 24 chapters to follow the opening of a magic advent calendar, and yes, it’s best consumed a chapter a day starting from 1 December. I read this with the kids every year (although it’s not strictly a children’s book) and we fall in love with it every time over. It’s a truly wonderful read on so many levels.
